Latest Feed-in Tariffs scheme finally confirmed by the UK Government a month ago will start on 1st August 2012. Homeowners applying on or before 31st July 2012 will receive the current 21p/kWh rate for an up to 4kW solar panels installation, as well as an EPC level D or above. Less than 8 weeks is the time homeowners have to install solar panels under the 21p Feed-in Tariff scheme. After that, from 1st August 2012, the new 16p Feed-in Tariff announced by the Government will start, and solar PV installations returns will change.
In April 2012, the UK Government introduced the 21p FIT. This new scheme kept everything as it was, with the exception of the Feed-in Tariff, which dropped from 43.3p to 21p per kWh. To receive these FITs now, you are required to have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) showing that your property has an EPC band D (for a system under 4kWp). In case your house doesn’t reach EPC band D, you will receive a lower tariff of 9p/kWh. (more…)
According to the new data published this morning by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), solar photovoltaic panels demand in the UK continues dramatically dropping. The number of solar pv installations for this week ending 13th May is 912, 42.5 % less than the last one 1.
Going back in time, the average of solar photovoltaic installations in May 2011 was 1,594. From the beginning of May 2012 until the date, the average of installations is 1,248, which is around a 20% less, when there is still more than fifteen days left until the end of May. In addition, recent figures show that the total capacity installed during the past four weeks was 17MW, against a four-weekly average of 71MW over the past 12 months. (more…)
As every week, the Department of Energy and Climate Change publishes the weekly statistics of solar PV installations all over the UK. Around 50 installations more than the week ending 15th April took place, which means that, right now, there are a total of 312,537 solar PV installations in the UK . As a result, these solar panels installations are producing more than 1 GW of energy (1,067,903 kW), that equals that when operating at peak performance, these panels could be powering up to 220,550 homes1. It’s a fact: the new feed-in tariff will take effect from April 1, 2012. Next Sunday, the feed-in tariff rates for photovoltaic systems with a total installed capacity of 250 kW or less will fall, while a lower multi-installation tariff is introduced by the Government.
According to the Department of Energy and Climate Change website, that “multi-installation tariff applies to PV installations where the generator or nominated recipient for FITs already owns or receives FIT payments for more than 25 PV installations on different sites. Such installations will receive a tariff set at 80% of the level of the standard tariff.” (more…)
